In 1924 Les worked as a gardener and lived in Telegraph Road, Beaconsfield. He married Ina Isabelle Forscutt. They moved to Bradley Street, Newport, Victoria. His employment would have involved the functioning of the equipment, including pumps, valves and to check temperatures, ensuring all meters were working correctly.
