GORDON Richard Samuel Stewart

ORIGINAL NAME PLATE C.1929

Richard was wounded in action on the 30th September 1917. He had a severe shrapnel wound to his right forearm. Returned to Australia  on the 10thJanuary 1918. Discharged on the 29thAugust 1918.

Richard returned to the district of Beaconsfield. He remained a farmer in Beaconsfield and Berwick Road, Harkaway. He never married.

“Gordon – On November 21st, at Royal Melbourne Hospital, Richard Stewart, loved son of the late Samuel and Marianne Gordon, dearly loved brother of Annie and Grace, brother-in-law of Joseph Curtis, late 1st AIF.”

Died on the 21stNovember 1946.

Buried November 1946 at Old Cheltenham Cemetery, Victoria.
