John returned to Australia  on the 22ndDecember 1918. Discharged on the 24th April 1919.

John had immigrated to Australia after his father’s death in 1911. On the 28thFebruary 1923 John received his medals, the witness was L D Bonette, “Holm Park”, Beaconsfield.

In 1924 John lived in Beaconsfield and then resided in Warrandyte. He was an active member of the Warrandyte community; 1929-1933 Treasurer of the Mechanics Institute, Warrandyte; 1930 on the Warrandyte Spring Show committee and the District Swimming Club Treasurer; 1931 he was the Tennis Club Secretary and in 1937 a member of the new Labor Branch that was formed.

Died in May 1962 at Heidelberg, Victoria.

Cremated on the 22nd May 1962 at Springvale Botanical Cemetery.
