On the 17th January 1918 Robert was diagnosed with “Trench Fever”.

Returned to Australia on the  22ndAugust 1919.

Discharged on the 1stDecember 1919.

In 1914 Robert married Ivy Lavinia Bartrop. In 1931 he was a dairy farmer living in Wangaratta. In 1954 Robert lived  in Gembrook Road, Nar Nar Goon; he was a farmer.

The reason for his inclusion in the Beaconsfield Avenue of Honour is unknown.

Died on the 11thJune 1970 at Beaconsfield, Victoria. Buried June 1970 at Pakenham Cemetery, Victoria.
