Beaconsfield Banner Winter 2024 – Bendigo Bank – Giving back to keep us safe

Media Release – Each year the Victoria State Emergency Service celebrates Wear Orange Wednesday in May.

The day is a national day of thanks to the thousands of VICSES volunteers who serve the Victorian community 24 hours a day, seven days a week through storm, flood, road crash rescue, and much more. It was opportune that Pakenham SES attended Community Bank Beaconsfield District Branch on Wednesday 22 May 2024, which was Wear Orange Day!

The Cardinia Shire is no stranger to disasters, from bushfires, accidents and storms, our community has been through its fair share. However, the response and recovery from disasters and emergencies would not be possible without the support of the local State Emergency Service (SES) crew.

Thanks to Community Bank Beaconsfield District part of Bendigo Bank, VICSES Pakenham can further invest in upgrading their emergency response vehicle with a $10,000 grant from the Bank’s Community Grants Program.

The funding will be put towards the purchase of a new Emergency Response Vehicle for the district.

Giving back: VICSES Pakenham team visited Community Bank Beaconsfield District Branch, to show their appreciation for the $10,000 grant provided to them by the Bank. L to R: Pakenham SES Team Members, Rachel Violi, Networks & Partnerships Manager, Ben Mailo, Deputy Controller Training, Mathew Haesler, Deputy Controller Assets & Facilities met with Community Bank Beaconsfield District Branch and Board members, Josie Marie Branch Manager, Graeme Taylor Chairman, Karen Chipperfield Board Member, Nicole Ryan Customer Service Officer and Jackie Murtagh Customer Service Officer.

Community Bank Beaconsfield District Chairman, Graeme Taylor said

we are pleased to support our local SES volunteers, with a grant that helps them continue to do what they do best, respond to the needs of our community quickly and effectively. Our local SES volunteers have a proud history of helping, protecting and educating communities which aligns with our Branches goals.”

Josie Marie, Community Bank Beaconsfield Branch Manager said,

you may not think who you bank with matters. But it does. For our customers, their banking is making a real difference. Every day, our customers help change lives and save lives simply by banking with us. Their banking enabled us to support the VICSES Pakenham with a grant to help fund the purchase of a new emergency response vehicle. You need a bank to provide the products and services you need. We need your banking to help us make a difference in our community.”

VICSES Pakenham Unit Controller, Hassan Fahd said,

we would like to take this opportunity to thank Community Bank Beaconsfield District for this community grant. A local business showing support in this way means a lot to our volunteers who put their time in. We look forward to building a strong partnership with the Branch.”
