Beaconsfield Banner Winter 2024 – Beaconsfield Kindergarten

Mothers’ Day was a huge focus at kindergarten as we started Term 2, with all children busy making gifts for their mums/special persons and planning special events. All groups celebrated their mothers/special persons with an event at kinder, either during session or in the evening with many children (and some mums) already dressed for bed.

We appreciate families taking time out of their busy schedules to help celebrate with the children. Showing their mum/special person around kinder and participating in activities together helps children develop a sense of belonging to kinder and strengthens the connections between home and kinder.

Beaconsfield Kindergarten’s Myrtle and Wattle Groups have been very excited to start bush kinder in Term 2. Due to a change in timetable, both groups are now running their bush kinder sessions at Wilson Botanic Park in Berwick.

Children’s safety is always important, a key factor at kinder, and never more so than when we’re out and about with the children. Our Myrtle and Wattle children started their bush kinder experience with lots of discussions about safety and boundaries. They also discussed connection to country and how they can be respectful to the land. These conversations will continue throughout the bush kinder program as children’s awareness, confidence and understanding develop. While there is a serious side to bush kinder, it is, of course, mostly about having FUN! Some of the adventures to date have included climbing up and sliding or rolling down hills, using binoculars and magnifying glasses looking high and low, digging for bugs, playing in puddles and games such as tiggy and “What’s the Time Mr Wolf?”.

If you see us out and about in Wilson Botanic Park, we’d love you to give us a wave but ask that you please respect our space and the children’s safety by not coming over to chat.
