Beaconsfield Banner Winter 2023 – Member for Berwick

We live in a vibrant community where so much happens and I know this is a reflection of how we come together to share our time and passion for the important things that bring a community together.

There was a recent example of how we came together as a community to support a family facing an adversity. The Beaconsfield Railway House has been a long-standing icon in our community as has the bunya-bunya tree. Both were at risk of being demolished as part of the railway Level Crossing Removal Project by the state government. I was pleased to be involved in working with the community which was led by a few passionate individuals who managed to start a movement to achieve transparent and effective communication with the relevant government bodies. This is a small, but cautious win for the community, with the house getting partly retained, but the devil will be in the detail.

Thank you to everyone who helped with this cause, and it goes to show how together we have a voice to make change.

As an update to a local office in the Berwick electorate, we are moving, but not as planned at this stage. In the interim, I have worked closely with local organisations who will provide space in their venue for an office which my staff and I can use. The following is the list of the venues where I will have a local office; Tuesday: Brentwood Neighbourhood House, Wednesday: Manna Gum Community Centre, Thursday: Holm Park, Friday: Pine Grove Hotel. You are welcome to make a time between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm if you need to see me. My staff will be in attendance from 9:00am to 5:00pm. These times and venues are subject to change, don’t forget, you can always reach out at any time if you need assistance.
