Welcome to this Winter edition of the Beaconsfield Banner for 2018. The Banner is available on the BPA website www.beaconsfield.org.au and on mobile phones. In addition printed copies are available at the Post Office, Beaconsfield Community Complex, local businesses and it is displayed on the Community Noticeboard. I hope you enjoy reading the Banner continuing to inform residents on what is happening in Beaconsfield.
The Beaconsfield Anzac Memorial Service conducted by our Association was held on Sunday 22 April and was an outstanding success. Thanks to everyone involved. See separate article for details.
At the April BPA meeting Guest Speaker Lorna LaBlache, Cardinia Shire Senior Town Planner provided an update on the Glismann Road Development Plan and Amendment to rezone the land to allow for residential development. Information was also provided on the Beaconsfield Structure Plan adopted by Council in December 2013 and Amendment C220. At the May General Council meeting Cardinia Shire Council adopted Planning Scheme Amendment C220. Details of these two planning matters can be obtained from Cardinia Shire Council.
The Interactive Touchscreen Project for the Beaconsfield Honour Board and World War I soldiers is nearly completed. There are some matters still to be completed including computer software issues and a base for the Touchscreen Unit. Special thanks to the Committee members and IT consultant Barry Hyde for the work done on the project. When the Touchscreen unit is fully operational there will be an official opening on a date to be advised. The project has been mostly funded by a Grant from the Commonwealth Government Department of Veterans Affairs.
The Beaconsfield Banner is produced by Committee members on a voluntary basis; however we need advertising revenue to cover BPA administration costs and printer’s costs. We need to hear from any businesses that would like to advertise in future quarterly editions and also from groups to provide community articles of interest. If you have any enquiries please email banner@beaconsfield.org.au or mail to P.O. Box 217 Beaconsfield Vic 3807.
For more details see the Correspondence section of the Beaconsfield Banner.
