As we head into the Christmas and New Year season, where life can be fast paced, I hope you have the time to take a moment and reflect on family, friends and our beautiful community. I appreciate the time to reflect, as it provides me the opportunity to be thankful of the life I have with my family. This helps me to see the work I can continue to do and contribute to in my role as your member of parliament for the Berwick electorate.
We continue to achieve so much together and, on this occasion, I would like to thank everyone who has supported Sarah’s Hope brain cancer fundraiser to raise much needed funds into brain cancer research. At the time of writing this article, Sarah is weeks away from completing the Point to Pinnacle challenge. We have so far raised $34 928 and hope to meet our goal of $45 000 which will fund a post graduate student for 12 months. Head to my website for details on how to donate.
The current cost of living has affected a lot of people in our community, with many feeling the pinch of rising prices on everything from groceries to fuel. Small businesses have been forced to adapt, often at significant expense, and some have had to make tough decisions just to keep their doors open. Yet, community members have shown remarkable support, choosing to shop local.
This is a good time to remind everyone to be ready for the fire season with an up to date Fire Plan in place and to check in on those who may need a hand over the holiday season.
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, may this time be filled with joy, love and special time spent with family and friends.
