Welcome to this Summer edition of the Beaconsfield Banner for 2018. The Banner is available on the BPA website www.beaconsfield.org.au and on mobile phones. In addition, printed copies are available at the Post Office, Beaconsfield Community Complex, local businesses and it is displayed on the Community Noticeboard. I hope you enjoy reading the Banner continuing to inform residents on what is happening in Beaconsfield.
CAROLS BY THE CREEK will be held on Sunday 16 December at Bob Burgess Reserve at 7.30pm. BPA supports Beaconsfield Baptist Church with the Carols and we are hoping for fine weather and a great crowd at this event.
THE CHRISTMAS WINDOWS COMPETITION has again received good response from Beaconsfield retailers and is a great initiative to build festive spirit in our wonderful town. You and your family can join in the competition and winners will be announced at Carols by the Creek.
AUSTRALIA DAY MOVIE NIGHT at Holm Park Reserve will commence at 7.00pm with food and family activities. The film is at dusk. We look forward to a great community evening. We thank Cardinia Shire Council for providing a Grant for this event.
Other BPA activities – Our incorporated Association held the AGM on 16 October and all positions were declared vacant and Office Bearers re-elected. Financial statements were adopted and the guest speaker was Geoff Lockwood manager of BEACONSFIELD RESERVOIR NATURE RESERVE. There has been much discussion in the community this year on the future use and accessibility of the Reserve and proposals on the water level of the Reservoir and remedial works on the reservoir wall. The meeting was very informative and hopefully the Reserve will be more accessible for the community to enjoy this former reservoir that supplied the Mornington Peninsula.
BPA hosted a Meet the Candidates Forum for the Seat of Gembrook for the recent State Election. The three candidates each addressed the Forum and then answered questions from the floor mostly about local issues.
The Beaconsfield Banner is produced by Committee members on a voluntary basis to provide community articles of interest. If you have any enquiries please email banner@beaconsfield.org.au or mail to P. O. Box 217 Beaconsfield Vic 3807. For more details see the Correspondence section of the Beaconsfield Banner.
