Beaconsfield Banner Spring 2021 Beaconsfield Football Club

The 2021 local football season again looks like being severely affected by Covid 19 as the latest Lockdown 6 may prevent finals matches being played. Beaconsfield’s Holm Park Reserve was scheduled to host the Outer East Premiers Division grand final on the 24th Sept public holiday but the chances of that are diminishing as clubs have now gone 7 weeks since last playing matches.

Beaconsfield were in a great position with Seniors & U/19’s teams unbeaten on top while our Reserves had a struggle and were sitting 7th. Our Women’s team was set to play in a Preliminary Final but that competition completion is also doubtful. A big thank you to all the coaching staff that have had to hold our playing group together during these very difficult times. Also, the work of so many volunteers enabled Beacy to continue to set a great standard on and off the ground and we hope that this vital support continues into next year when we hope things may finally be a bit less challenging.

Our club was very fortunate that the season’s highlight occurred on 10th July between lockdowns when our Seniors wore replica Tiger jumpers to commemorate the back-to-back 1980/1981 premierships. Many of the premiership heroes returned and were thrilled to watch & meet our current young team who wore their corresponding jumper numbers in a great win over our oldest rivals in Cranbourne. Great work was put in by Michael Fisher in producing a wonderful premiership booklet which was a treasured memento for those attending. A big thank you also to Doogood Surface Coating for the great sponsorship of these fantastic jumpers which were a real hit with the old and new players.

We have been most appreciative of the wonderful sponsorship support from so many local businesses and hope that we can have an opportunity to welcome all of them along to Holm Park before 2021 comes to a close. Fundraising events have been really affected but the club is still planning to hold our Major Raffle draw which has now been rescheduled to Sat 9th October. Great choice of prizes available ranging from Berwick Toyota Yaris, New kitchen from Orana, Beaconsfield Travel Centre $25000 voucher or Sapphire Spas voucher. Tickets available from Geoff McGowan (0410 446 988).

2021 Beaconsfield Senior team with coach Mick Fogarty, Captain Jake Bowd and Vice-Capt. Brandon White wearing the replica Tigers jumper for the match against Cranbourne on 10th July.
