Beaconsfield Banner Autumn 2022 – Cardinia Shire’s Annual Indigenous Plant Giveaway

Council and the Cardinia Environment Coalition Inc. Nursery are giving away two free native plants to the first 1,000 Cardinia Shire households who take up the offer.

The plants are available at Cardinia Environment Coalition (CEC) Inc Nursery at Deep Creek Reserve (62 Cameron Way, Pakenham) from now until Friday 17 June 2022, or while stock lasts.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Jeff Springfield said the free plant giveaway would encourage residents to plant native species in their gardens.

“Native plants are so important for our biodiversity. A garden planted out with native varieties that are indigenous to our shire helps to build a healthier ecosystem and support our local wildlife.

“Council is proud to support our community to create a greener Cardinia Shire through the investment of 2 native plants for 1,000 households to plant in their gardens,” Cr Springfield said.

Cardinia Shire residents must bring proof of address to CEC Inc. Nursery at Deep Creek Reserve to receive 2 free native tube stock plants. Residents can choose from small to large woody stem trees. Two plants per household.

CEC Nursery Inc. at Deep Creek Reserve is located at 62 Cameron Way, Pakenham. It is open from 9am-12pm on Fridays.
