Cardinia Shire residents, businesses and schools were encouraged to sign up for this year’s Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 6 March.
Cardinia Shire Major Councillor Jeff Springfield said with 24.5 cubic meters of rubbish collected and removed from our community last year, it is an important community event to help protect and conserve our local environment.
All Cardinia Shire residents who registered a site received a free clean-up kit including bags and gloves. Cardinia Shire also assisted with the collection and disposal of all rubbish collected on the day.
This national event started in 1990. Since then, over 19 million Australians have donated their time as part of Clean Up Australia Day activities over the last 30 years.
