Welcome to another year of fun at BNC! We hope that 2020 is a year of good health and happiness for all our members with a much more positive vibe in the air.
Although it’s been a rough start for many people, our community has shone with an amazing outreach of support and donations for those affected by fires and weather events. It is heart warming to see such kindness in the midst of challenging times.
Our Term 1 program is bursting with activities and further information about our programs. Go to www.bncinc.org.au or pick up a free hard copy at reception if you didn’t receive one in your letterbox.
We wonder if everyone made healthy new year’s resolutions this year because our exercise classes such as yoga, pilates and strength training have filled quickly. We have even put on some additional sessions to cater for the demand. It’s never too late to join in, so have a look at what’s happening and contact us for availability.
Another healthy choice is our Meditation class with Sharon. Relieve stress and anxiety with a calming and insightful guided journey on Tuesdays from 11.30am – 12.30pm. Qigong classes with Emma are also on Tuesdays from 6.00pm – 7.00pm. Qigong (pronounced chi gong) is a form of gentle movement exercises to reduce stress and tension from the mind and body. Improve your sense of wellbeing by joining either (or both) of these beneficial classes.
For a gold coin donation, you can attend a workshop which focuses on Traditional Chinese Medicine for Headaches and Migraines.
In addition to providing this informative and helpful session on Thursday 19 March, Rose Chong is our tutor for Sit Down Exercise classes and generously shares her time and knowledge with the goal of improving people’s health and their awareness of self-care.
Rose is also onsite on Mondays at the Centre offering acupuncture at very reasonable rates. Contact Rose directly on 0452 269 180 to find out more or to book an appointment.
Our Wine Club meets once every term and we welcome anyone looking for a friendly, social group to taste and discuss wine. The first gathering for 2020 is Thursday 26th March from 7.00pm – 9.00pm. Only $10 per person which includes wine and nibbles. Booking and prepayment is essential for catering requirements.
A developing area that we’re offering classes for is Cooking and Bakery with Pauline. We are intending to build on this previously untapped source of learning and enjoyment at the Centre and welcome your suggestions for future class ideas. The upcoming class for this month is Gluten-Free Bread making which is offered for a daytime or evening workshop on March 19th.
Floral workshops with our delightful florist tutor, Sharon, have been booking out in record time. Get in early each term to book in for a selection of beautiful opportunities.
The next floral design workshop is scheduled for Thursday 19th March from 7.00pm – 9.00pm. You will make an Easter Basket fresh flower arrangement with Sharon’s step-by-step guidance for only $15 plus $25 for materials. Bring your own secateurs or scissors and produce a work of art that is yours to take home.
BNC Children’s Room
Occasional Care and 3-Year-Old sessions have filled quickly with gorgeous, fresh new faces and familiar little people too. We can now offer fee relief to our members with the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) applicable for these programs.
With limited availability left on Thursdays, only over 3yo spots available on Fridays for Occasional Care, and waiting lists for other sessions, register your interest early to improve your chance of securing your preferred times. There’s always some movement in the sessions throughout the year and we contact waiting families in order of receipt of expressions of interest to offer places.
Our Playgroup is continuing to prove popular with families in the area. There are still some vacancies in the Monday morning 9.00am session and the Tuesday 11.30am session. This is a great opportunity for children to learn through play and socialising and an opportunity for parents to meet other families in the community. It also familiarises children with our Children’s Room and eases anxiety when it is time for care or 3 Year Old Kinder.
The Children’s Room team are working on an exciting art and recycling project in 2020. With plans to create a stunning mural from recycled bottle caps, we’re calling for donations.
Please collect your plastic bottle caps and drop off any clean and dry caps to the Children’s Room or Office. We can’t wait to see what they will produce!
We are running a holiday program of Occasional Care and recommend early enrolment in these sessions. Your child does not have to be enrolled in our regular sessions to attend during the school holidays. Sessions will run on Thursday 2nd and 9th of April from 8.30am – 1.30pm for $50 each and Friday 3rd of April from 8.30am – 12.30pm for $40 each. CCS is available for these sessions.
The Children’s Room is also a great place to host your child’s next birthday party. With rates starting at just $115 to hire for for 3 hours, it is an affordable alternative to play centres and is age appropriate for 1-7 year olds.
Get in touch with our friendly staff with any questions and like us on Facebook to get more highlights throughout the year. Come and see us soon!
