Beaconsfield Banner Autumn 2019 BPA President’s Report

Welcome to this 2019 Autumn edition of the Beaconsfield Banner.  I hope you enjoy reading the Banner which continues to inform residents on what is happening.  The Banner is available on our BPA website www.beaconsfield.org.au and printed copies are available from a number of local businesses.

Unfortunately, the Carols by the Creek had to be cancelled due to heavy rain during the afternoon. Let’s hope for better weather next year.

The Christmas Windows Competition run by Beaconsfield Progress Association was a great success and winners were happy when notified. Thanks to the generous shopkeepers for their donations of fabulous prizes.

The Outdoor Family Movie Night held on Australia Day was a success with a good attendance to build on in the future. The location and format for the evening worked well with approximately 150 people attending to see Oddball. Hopefully, we can make this an annual event for Beaconsfield. Thank you to Cardinia Shire Council for the grant for this event.

The Anzac Memorial Service will be held on Sunday 21 April 2019 at 2pm. This year the date falls during Easter and School Holidays. Planning is well underway, however the full program we have had in previous years may not be possible with less people expected to attend. You are welcome to join us on the day at Beaconsfield Cenotaph.

Beaconsfield Progress Association is the voice of the community and is always willing to advocate on township matters to Councils, Government and Government Authorities. In recent years, our Association has advocated for improvements to intersections in Beaconsfield. It is pleasing to hear advice from Jason Wood MP that the Federal Government has committed $18 million for upgrades to a number of intersections. These include Old Princes Highway intersections at O’Neil Rd., Beaconsfield Ave/Glismann Rd. and Brunt/Whiteside Rd. We look forward to these intersections being improved for safety and traffic flow.

Beaconsfield Progress Association meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the Beaconsfield Community Complex commencing at 7.30 pm. Your attendance and input is welcome.
