We are thrilled to announce a record number of new memberships at the Centre so far this year! Our community is finding interest in so many of the courses and activities at BNC and so we’re absolutely buzzing.
Check out our full program each term for further information about what’s on. Go to our website www.bncinc.org.au to view it online. Free hard copies are available at reception if you don’t receive one in your letterbox.
It is your Neighbourhood Centre, so please contact us with suggestions for what else you would like us to offer. We welcome your input and encourage community participation.
We are specifically seeking volunteers to join the Committee of Management which governs the Centre’s operations. All you need is a strong community spirit and a minimum of about two hours of time to give for the monthly meetings. You will help to guide the future direction of BNC and contribute to your local community in a low-pressure, friendly environment. Please register your interest or ask further questions by emailing Rachael at: coordinator@bncinc.org.au.
Spotlighting some of our favourite courses:
Each term we offer a First Aid workshop. Our next course is scheduled for Saturday 7th of September. The course is presented in a blended delivery style with approximately eight hours of home-based learning and a four-hour session from 9.30am – 1.30pm for $150.
If you require CPR training only, the session will run from 9.30am – 11.30am for $80. A full day beginners’ course is also offered for $175 and runs from 9.30am – 3.30pm.
The Cardinia volunteer subsidy applies for this course so if you volunteer within the Shire you could be eligible for a 50% subsidy. Contact the office for more information or to book.
Discover the benefits of Meditation with Sharon. At the physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual levels, enjoy inner peace and personal transformation throughout your daily life.
Join Sharon for guided meditation on a journey you will find calming and insightful. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. You may also like to bring a journal, pen and a blanket for warmth. Starts from Tuesday 16th of July for 10 weeks and costs $130 for the term.
In Term 2 we welcomed Pauline, a delightful addition to our skilled team of tutors. Pauline will be developing some exciting new cooking programs in the upcoming months.
For starters we’ve loved the Centre being filled with the smell of fresh baked bread. Bread Making will be offered again in Term 3 with pricing starting at $40 for a three-hour session. All ingredients are included and you take home your delicious results.
We are excited about our new partnership with Australian Multicultural Community Services. Aimed at people aged 65 years or over, the Moving for Life–The Way I Like It program is designed to increase the level of physical activity of Australian Seniors.
So, look out for the details of a new Walking Group and a group visiting local Community Gardens coming up next term. Supported by government funding, these groups will be free for our members to attend.
Despite some challenging Melbourne weather, the Harmony Festival in March was well-attended, and we had some wonderful feedback from families attending on the day. We are pleased to have been able to offer this opportunity to our community and thank all the amazing volunteers who helped to make it a fun, colourful, inclusive day.
BNC Children’s Room
We have finally lodged our application for the National Child Care Scheme! The process has been long and arduous but we look forward to when we can offer this fee relief to our members. Upon approval, our families will be able to claim a subsidy for care in our Children’s Room.
There is no specified length of time for the Department of Education and Training to assess applications and make a decision, but hopefully we will know the outcome soon. We will be providing our current families with more information as it becomes available so contact us if you would like to be kept in the loop too.
Oblivious to our red tape concerns, the children in all of our programs have been having a wonderful time embracing autumn and paint fun.
School Holiday Occasional Care sessions will run on the following dates: Thursday 4th and 11th July and Friday 5th and 12 July (end of Term 2). Bookings and pre-payment for these sessions is essential.
We have several opportunities for local businesses to expose themselves (professionally).
We are happy to display business cards amongst our information in the foyer. We also have a free notice board to advertise upcoming events.
Limited spaces for a 10×10 advertisement are available in the BNC Program. For $100 per term, your ad will feature in 8,000 printed copies as well as circulating digitally via our email distribution list and website visits.
Another alternative is to hire space in one of our display windows at the Centre. Prices start at just $20 per term for half of a small window. Contact us to discuss your requirements. With hundreds of visitors each week, it is a great, eye-catching opportunity to promote your business just like Simone from Core Strength Fitness Victoria:
