In 1914 Richard married Annie Kathleen Margaret Ryan. Richard was diagnosed with Shell shock.

Returned to Australia on the 21st November 1917.

Discharged on the 25th December 1917.

Richard moved from the district living in Edithvale, Kinglake, Carrum and Panton Hill. His brother is William Wallace Cameron.

Died on the 17th November 1970 at Dandenong, Victoria.

Buried on the 20th November 1970 at Berwick Cemetery.
