Beaconsfield Banner Winter 2022 – Brunt Road Level Crossing Removal Project Seeking Community Consultation

The Victorian Government is removing 85 level crossings by 2025, including the level crossing at Brunt Road, Beaconsfield.

The level crossing will be removed by building a new road bridge over the Pakenham Line.

This design means, according to the State Government, it can get rid of this crossing sooner, with fewer disruptions for road and rail users during construction.

Removing this level crossing will help to create a level crossing-free Pakenham Line, which will change how locals live, work and travel.

Early site investigations are underway, with the project expected to be complete in three years by 2025.

Brunt Road draft project area

As the project progresses, the Government is seeking community feedback on key aspects of the design to help deliver the best outcome for the community.

You now have the opportunity to have your say on what you would like to see in and around the level crossing, including:

  • finishes on the new road bridge
  • landscaping
  • walking and cycling connections.

Your feedback will inform the design process as they continue to refine the design.

You can also make a submission on the proposed changes to the Cardinia Planning Scheme for the project. This feedback will be provided to the Minister for Planning as part of the formal request for planning approval.

How to participate

Submit a response to the survey on the Victoria’s Big Build website at https://engage.vic.gov.au/lxrp-brunt-road and help shape your local area. Feedback is open until 11.59pm, Monday 20 June 2022.

Kenilworth Avenue

The project will, among many other changes, eliminate the intersection of Kenilworth Avenue and Brunt Road. This means residents will no longer be able to turn on to Brunt Road at the end of Kenilworth Avenue but will need to navigate through the residential streets to exit on to Brunt Road via Just Joey Drive, or ones further south.
