Old butcher’s shop

This shop was built around 1920 and was first a mixed business run by the Bradford family, then became a butcher’s shop run by the Cole family.  Jim Parkes was apprentice and then took over the business to be followed by his son Bryan.  The Parkes family are remembered in the Jim Parkes reserve in Souter Street. Jim was very active in the community with the football club and CFA.

BPA is a voluntary organisation representing the interests of residents and businesses of Beaconsfield, liaising with Cardinia Shire Council, Commonwealth and State Governments and Non-Government bodies in regard to planning & community issues, events and amenities for Beaconsfield.
