Built in 1889 it became the Beaconsfield Post Office in 1916 and was purchased by the Craven family who later donated the money for the gates for the Beaconsfield Park. The Roberts took over the Post office in 1936, faithfully serving a very busy post office and telephone exchange till retirement in 1956. A number of people had the business till 1978 when Mary Booth took over and was postmistress until her retirement in 2004.
The Old Post Office subsequently became a café and gift shop.
