Henry was admitted to hospital in England with a gunshot wound to his left thigh on the 27th August 1918.

He returned to Australia on the 23rd March 1919 and was discharged on the 15th May 1919.

From 1914 to 1919 Henry lived in Officer and was employed with the Railway.

In 1915 Henry married Dorothy Irene Beadel in Flemington, Victoria. They had two children Gwendoline Dorothy and Doreen Lorraine.

Henry was eventually promoted to Railway Station Master and the family lived in Coburg, Victoria.

He received the Star Medal 1914/1915 on the 15th May 1919, he also received the British War Medal on 19th October 1921 and the Victory Medal on 15th May 1922.

Henry died at the Repatriation General Hospital, Heidelberg on the 24th August 1962 and was buried on the 17th August 1962 at the Fawkner Cemetery.
