The Campbell family moved from Beaconsfield and by 1914 they were living in Newton Victoria.
On the 25 October 1916, Robert joined the Royal Australian Navy he was discharged on 17 March 1921.
In 1924 Robert and Rosa lived in Davey Street Geelong and had three children, Alan McGregor, Mavis Lily and Irene Janet.
Robert died on 9 July 1978 and was cremated at Memorial Park, North Altona, his ashes are interred at Geelong Eastern Cemetery (Rose Garden 27, Row 03, Position 1).
