In 1954 the family were living at Camp Pell in Parkville. This housing camp was used to accommodate approximately 3,000 families that had been evicted by the housing commissions slum reclamation program. Public housing was finally developed by the Victorian Housing Commission in outer suburbs so the inner city could accommodate the impending arrivals for the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">In 1963 Ernest and Elsie are living in a modest housing commission home, 17 Eisenhower Street, Reservoir East.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Ernest was unwell for a number of years, finally succumbing to lung cancer.
