John was a coach driver for Mr AW Shorthouse, Beaconsfield Upper.<\/p>\n

At the time of enlistment his parents were both deceased and his only sister\u2019s address was unknown. John and his sister grew up in an orphanage.<\/p>\n

On the 3rd<\/sup>September 1916 John was killed in action \u201cin the forest\u201d in Belgium.<\/p>\n

He is buried at Woods Military Cemetery, Zillebeke, Belgium.<\/p>\n

Berwick Shire News<\/strong> (11th<\/sup>October 1916)<\/p>\n

“News was received in Beaconsfield last week of the death of Private JF Tucker, who was killed in action in France on the 3rd<\/sup> of last month. He was in the employment of Mr AW Shorthouse when he enlisted and made many friends, all of whom will regret to hear of his death.”<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThey miss him most who knew him best.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
