On the 27th<\/sup>January 1917 in England, Richard married Adelaine Eva Taylor. On the 31st<\/sup>August 1918 it was reported Richard had been gassed and admitted to hospital. Returned to Australia on the 20th<\/sup>May 1920. Discharged on the 24th<\/sup>November 1920.<\/p>\n

“10,000th<\/sup> WAAAF Enlists.<\/em><\/p>\n

When Miss Peggy Gledhill enrolled yesterday in the WAAAF at No 1 recruiting centre Russell Street, she was the 10,000th<\/sup> WAAAF to enrol in Australia. Mr Drakeford, Air Minister, welcomed Miss Gledhill into the service and wished her every success. Air-Commodore R J Brownell MC, AOC, No 1 training centre, and Wing-Cdr C B Ransom, CO, No 1 training centre were also present. Miss Gledhill, the daughter of Lt R Gledhill and Mrs Gledhill of Cohuna, has been a dental nurse for about 6 years, and has enrolled as a dental orderly. Her brother, Norman, is a wireless air gunner in the RAAF.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Richard re-enlisted for Military Service on the 13th<\/sup>September 1937 and served until 1945. He was then employed by the railways and in 1949 he was the Assistant Station Master at Cohuna.<\/p>\n

Died in 1949 at Cohuna, Victoria. Buried in 1949 at Cohuna Cemetery, Victoria.<\/p>\n
